a system that operates as a hierarchical pyramid scheme doesn't want its people to reach class consciousness.
you would think that, after 20+ years of our inevitable integration into and unification with the internet, we would have reached that by now. interestingly enough, it is increasingly apparent that we have reached a different kind of class unity, but it's not class consciousness; it's class absurdism.
how could this happen? how, when such a large number of posts on instagram and X are about government corruption, could this inevitable class consciousness reach such a low state we could only appropriately refer to as slop? to ponder the answer, let's follow this back to the system's interests: the powers to be and powers that were knew very well what effects the digital age would have on societies. surely somewhere they discussed different possibilities, ways this might go, how they will integrate with it, how they will advertise in it, how they will communicate with it, how they will control our data. But they also knew that widespread use of the internet would lead to rapid class consciousness, and we know that is not in their best interest.
so, what would we do if we were the ones in control? what if we ourselves dispense 'leaks' that are partially fabricated so as to poison the flow of information that these content creators feed from? what if we prime the masses to be skeptical of everything by creating false and conflicting narratives? what if we disseminate esoteric knowledge through content creators so that they make it digestible and spread it, thus rendering the whole thing into absurdism? brilliant!
of course the internet was the catalyst for peak psychological operation, and their goal is not only to lower our class consciousness, but to render our consciousness into absurdism. we can no longer truly tell what is true, because the flow of information has been compromised by a massive psyop. what are the consequences of this? how does class absurdism affect humanity's ability to cope with an existential threat? it would be safe to assume that it would be difficult to appropriately face any threat with an absurd mindset. that is, it's difficult to take anything seriously if you live in a hellscape of absurdism. and that's exactly what we have gotten from their malicious distortion and manipulation of reality through an endless barrage of symbols and icons that only represent the things we think we know about. how many of us have ever seen the president in the flesh? how many of us have been to the white house? how many of us really know what it is we are so passionate about when all this phenomena we claim to care about can only be accessed by proxy through symbols?
while I don't have any solutions, we should notice that absurdism is on the rise. and we should acknowledge that class consciousness is not guaranteed by our unity with the internet. it may be something we have to actively seek. we have become so polarized by symbols and icons that there is no room for complexities or nuance.
my hypothesis is that the belief in corruption is used to absolve our inaction.
